Austin, Texas, June 11, 2024 — Great Place To Work and Fortune magazine have honored Nutrabolt as one of this year’s Best Workplaces in Texas. This is Nutrabolt’s third time in a row being named to this prestigious list, coming in at number 29. To determine the Fortune Best Workplaces in Texas™ List, Great Place To Work surveyed nearly 95,000 employees at eligible companies. Via the Trust Index™ Survey, employees shared honest feedback about their experience by responding to 60 statements about the employee experience and answering two open-ended questions.

For the third year, C4 Energy fueled all of Austin as the Official Energy Drink of South by Southwest® (SXSW) 2024! 
 
Each March, Austin transforms into a melting pot of innovation, creativity, and culture as it hosts SXSW. What began as a music festival in 1987 has evolved into a multifaceted event, encompassing technology, film, music, and more.  

Nutrabolt champions a growth mindset, and actively seeks out unique opportunities to engage high-performing teammates. This year, the company was proud to send 10 people to SXSW to fuel their own journey of greatness! 

Rachel Cain from Nutrabolt’s Accounting team received a Day Pass. This was her first time attending SXSW, and she embraced the opportunity to see one of her favorite authors and podcasters live. 

“I was able to see Jay Shetty, one of my favorite authors and podcasters. I was also able to hear Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, writers of ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once,’ explain how they created the movie concept,” Rachel shared. “Both were so so fascinating!” 

At Nutrabolt, we prioritize maintaining a healthy balance between work and home life, and know how important shared moments are with loved ones — big and small. For teammate and Platinum Badge recipient Jaymee Cusick, attending SXSW was the perfect retreat from her daily grind. 
 
“Being able to experience SXSW with my husband was priceless,” she said. “In this busy world, we don’t get a lot of time to be together without kids, so we took full advantage. It made the experience that much more special to share it with him.” 

Creative connection is a common occurrence throughout SXSW, even amongst our teammates! Receiving a Day Pass gave Natasha Oparnica and Rachel Cain the chance to meet, and explore all that the conference had to offer together. 

“I spent the day with Rachel who also won a Day Pass. We had never met before that day, but found we had similar interests in session topics,” Natasha said. “We had lunch, drank C4, played mini golf, and made custom photobooks at the UKG activation. It was so fun!” 
 
As the Official Energy Drink of SXSW® 2024, Nutrabolt’s high-performing Brand and Field Marketing teams showcased how our innovative brands empower consumers to ‘flip the switch’ from the day with C4 Smart Energy, to night with C4 Ultimate Energy.​ 

C4 Smart Energy fueled networking events, workshops, fireside chats, and panel discussions throughout the day. Then, as the sun set, C4 Ultimate Energy took center stage, and powered guests at launch parties, music shows, concerts, and more. 

Our passionate team spent over 1,000 total hours handing out 96,000 ice-cold cans to festival-goers, adding ‘Energy That Hits’ into every moment, especially at the C4 Energy Hub. Of course, our winning teammates made sure to partake in C4’s street activation. 

“It was great to meet our Field Marketers, and truly see ‘cans in hands’ become reality,” shared Allison McGuire, one of Nutrabolt’s Platinum Badge recipients. “Meeting people in line or at networking events, and telling them where I worked filled me with pride at their immediate recognition. It was like being a mini celebrity!” 

In addition to a standout street activation, C4 integrated into the programming of SXSW with two panel sessions: “College Athletes as Influencers” and “Leading with Purpose.”   
 
The highly attended sessions featured top talent including Bijan Robinson, Lindsay Brewer, Ayden Ames, Sam Hurley, and sports journalist Malika Andrews. Nutrabolt’s Director of Talent Management and Influencer Marketing, Marquel Carter, hosted the “College Athletes as Influencers” panel session. 

Brendan O’Toole, VP, Procurement at Nutrabolt, used his Day Pass to attend the C4-hosted session. 

“It was cool to hear the athletes speak, and offer a different perspective of the changing landscape in college athletics, for the right reasons.” 

Brian Munoz, Trade Marketing Coordinator at Nutrabolt, also expressed that the panel session led by C4 was very engaging.  

“I think the C4 Energy athlete session was probably my favorite event. It was very insightful to hear firsthand how they experienced the impacts of NIL, and those changes in the NCAA rules and landscape,” he said. 

What makes the culture at Nutrabolt unique is the diverse interests our teammates have. We believe that part of fulfilling our mission to maximize potential for all means supporting our teammates and their passions — from beverages to e-sports, to footwear and comedy. 

Jonathan Brunssen from Nutrabolt’s Business Intelligence team explored comedy and film sessions with his Day Pass.

“Four different acts made my stomach hurt from laughing so much! I also love TV and movies, so seeing some new shows in the Paramount+ Lodge was amazing.”  
 
Fostering an environment where teammates can grow, connect, and feel inspired both in and out of the workplace is a remarkable privilege, especially at one of the most iconic events in our hometown. 

“SXSW was truly an amazing experience. I would say, don’t get too attached to your schedule because things pop up all the time that you may be interested in,” Allison recommended. “Or you could meet a new friend in line and decide to go explore something different. SXSW is where people who love art, science, and technology come together to make the world a better place. There is something to enjoy for everyone!”

In 2022, Nutrabolt partnered with Plastic Bank to offset all plastic used in its supply chain across the company’s entire product portfolio. Since then, Nutrabolt has prevented 4 million kilograms of plastic from entering the ocean — the equivalent of over 200 million plastic bottles! 

Plastic Bank is a global, social enterprise that reduces plastic waste in the environment, while simultaneously alleviating poverty in developing parts of the world. 

Nutrabolt partners with Plastic Bank to empower ocean-bound plastic collection members, effectively preventing the influx of plastic into the world’s oceans. This collaboration also provides vital social and economic support to collectors and their families, including access to health insurance, educational resources, nutritional sustenance, energy sources, and avenues for financial empowerment.

In its third partnership year, Nutrabolt continues its commitment to a better planet by offsetting all plastic used in 2023. In 2024, Plastic Bank collectors will collect 1,325,000 kilograms of plastic from vulnerable coastal communities on Nutrabolt’s behalf. That means Nutrabolt’s efforts will rescue the equivalent of 66,250,000 bottles from reaching the ocean this year, on top of the work already done in the previous two years. 

Plastic Bank has also empowered us to think about the manufacturing and distribution of our products through the lens of sustainability. Our partnership supports 5 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):: No poverty, decent work and economic growth, responsible consumption and production, life below water, and partnership for the goals.

Today, Nate Kleiman leads Nutrabolt’s highly innovative Product Development team as the SVP, Strategic Product Initiatives. But, his Nutrabolt journey began 20 years ago as a college student.

“I started off packing orders part time and making sample packs. I received a full-time offer after graduating college in May 2005, where I oversaw the shipping operations and fulfillment,” Nate said.

With two decades in the books and more than 10 titles held, Nate has experienced many memorable moments at Nutrabolt. But the one that stands out the most is an early story of overcoming adversity to achieve results that were pivotal to the company’s future. He said it was then that he witnessed Nutrabolt’s culture and values start to form. 

As he puts it, although the company’s core values and how we define them have changed over the years, they have been found in our people since the beginning.

“I think it was 2007. Doss [Cunningham, Nutrabolt CEO] had set sales goals that if we hit, the company would send everyone to Miami for the Texas A&M vs. Miami game. It was the last day of the month to hit the goal, and we were pretty far behind,” Nate recalled. “We finally received approval codes from GNC around 3-4 p.m. on Friday, which allowed us to sell our products into franchise. That opened the floodgates, and the Sales team started hammering the phones. We ended up hitting our goal that day. There may or may not have been some champagne popping to celebrate.” 

Of course, no one knows you like your own teammates! Frank DiLorenzo, VP, Product Development at Nutrabolt, has worked with Nate for more than six years. He said the most inspiring part about working alongside Nate is the constant resilience he demonstrates. Frank called him “an incredible steward of Nutrabolt’s mission and core values.”

“Probably the quintessential encapsulation of Nate was him walking into my office in Bryan, Texas, circa 2018 or so. It was about noon on a Monday, and he asked if I’d be able to go with him on a 3:30 p.m. flight that afternoon to address a project with one of our vendors,” Frank said. “We didn’t even have a return date, we just needed to immediately go home, pack our bags, and hop on a plane. And to this day, 20 years in, he still has the same work ethic and perseverance to push through challenging circumstances.”

To recognize Nate’s unwavering dedication, expertise, and passion for the mission, Nutrabolt’s Workplace team hosted a special surprise gathering at the company’s Austin Headquarters. 

Custom Nutrabolt cookies were served, including cookies of Nate’s favorite C4 Performance Energy can – Midnight Cherry! Additionally, teammates got to enjoy a special beverage menu with drink names all inspired by Nate.

Nutrabolt’s CEO Doss Cunningham, Nate’s family, and several teammates joined in to celebrate the momentous day!

When asked to describe his experience over the last two decades at Nutrabolt in just one word, Nate used “unbelievable” and “grateful.”

“It’s been an incredible journey to watch – and be a part of the company from when it started in a duplex – to where it is now. It was just a bunch of college kids and 20-somethings early on. I think everybody had the belief that the company was going to make it and be successful,” Nate shared. “Everyone was so passionate, and willing to jump in wherever something was needed. It felt like a small family. I am so appreciative of the opportunities that have been given to me through the 20 years.” 

Nate’s 20-year journey at Nutrabolt is filled with achievements, growth, and a positive impact that extends far beyond the workplace. His hard work and commitment have helped shape the culture of our organization today. Since the beginning, his mindset has remained the same: execute and find a way or solution when problems arise.

“Success doesn’t happen instantaneously. There have been numerous changes and pivotal events throughout the life of Nutrabolt, and you have to embrace these changes and be adaptable to whatever the circumstances are,” Nate said. The one thing that I’ve preached to my team over the years is to have a sense of urgency in everything you do.”

At Nutrabolt, we know incredible things happen when we create a work environment that fuels our teammates’ potential. Performance is the core of who we are, and we believe that the better we perform, the more we can put back into our communities and our world.

While we’re always driving to our next best result, we find it incredibly important to celebrate our teammates and their wins. This mindset led us to implement a new recognition program, to deliver our teammates rewarding experiences while helping them connect with the world around them.

Thanks to a unique recognition platform called Blueboard, our teammates now look forward to a variety of interesting and fun experiences to celebrate their Nutrabolt milestones! These include homestyle cooking classes, a relaxing day at the spa, an exciting game at a local pro team’s ballpark, or even a rhythmic dance class.

Shannon, from Nutrabolt’s Commercial team, is a thrill seeker, and loves to immerse herself in new adventures. So, when her Blueboard reward became available, she knew she’d want to unlock an exciting hands-on option to celebrate her big achievement.

“I chose the Introductory Flight Lesson for my Blueboard experience because I’m an adrenaline junkie, and love to try new things,” she said. “It stuck out to me as the most intriguing option for the area I live in.”

Like anyone would be for their first-time flight lesson — Shannon described feeling nervous before she arrived.

“Shortly after meeting the instructor, he walked me through the warehouse and led me to a tiny plane,” she said. “He demonstrated how to top off the oil, handed me a headset, and ensured he’d tell me what to do when the time came. At that point, I thought he’d pretend I was flying the plane, while he was steering…I was wrong!”

While in the air, Shannon learned how to complete critical flying techniques, including maintaining altitude and airspeed — something she never imagined having the opportunity to experience.

After returning to the ground, Shannon recalled that the physical demand you endure while flying a plane is similar to the strain you feel in a challenging exercise class.

“After the lesson, I felt very accomplished, but physically tired. I was so tense the entire time, it kind of felt like a Pilates class where your muscles are constantly under tension.”

This year, teammates who celebrate a 5, 10, 15, and 20 year work anniversary will be gifted a reward that’s reflective of their years served at Nutrabolt. Depending on the milestone, some options to choose from include tickets to local concerts or theatre shows, staycations, trips, and much more!

In our 15th year of holiday service, Nutrabolt celebrated the season of giving with our local Austin community through The GiveJoy Foundation – and in London with BADU. 

In Austin, our team spent the day with GiveJoy at the Grow and Give Back Holiday Drive, delivering 1,000 hand-wrapped presents and a hot holiday meal to local kids and their families. In the U.K., we partnered with BADU for ‘That Moment When’ to bring essential holiday hampers to nearly 400 families in the London-Hackney community.

The Grow and Give Back Holiday Drive is the flagship event of The GiveJoy Foundation. This event started in 2008 with around 50 students, and has grown to impact thousands of children in Austin and Bryan, Texas. 

The day-long event provides families with a full holiday experience that includes $100 worth of gifts for each child and a hot holiday meal. Through the joy of shopping, wrapping, and delivering gifts, participants embrace the spirit of giving while building a stronger community. 

Nutrabolt CEO Doss Cunningham expressed his gratitude for the passion our teammates have to put the company’s long-standing mantra, ‘grow and give back,’ in motion.  

“It’s amazing to have so many people give up their Saturday to put others first, and really pour energy into making a difference for the children in the community,” he said. 

Across the pond, our London-based teammates joined BADU for their holiday service initiative, ‘That Moment When.’ While the festive season is a special time for some families, it can also be a time of great financial pressure for many.  

“This year is extra special. We’ve taken our holiday service efforts global,” shared Emily Clark, Director of Corporate Communications and Experience at Nutrabolt. “We work with a great organization called BADU in London, and they put together baskets of gifts and necessities to spread that holiday joy across the pond.” 

BADU provided almost 400 vital hampers filled with presents and dinner items to families in London experiencing challenging circumstances. Nutrabolt was proud to support BADU’s efforts to make a wonderful holiday experience accessible to all. 

For Kostya Sokolov, Regional Commercial Manager – EU at Nutrabolt, this was his second time volunteering at a BADU event. He noted that the way BADU brings people together is deeply inspiring.  

“BADU has a hugely positive impact on the local community, and shows so much passion and care for helping others in need,” Kostya said. “We came together and packed a huge amount of Christmas food hampers and presents for families. The Nutrabolt team had the record for most hampers packed! Being able to give back to the local community in London was amazing.” 

At Nutrabolt, we’re grateful to have passionate teammates and charitable partners who make a meaningful impact in the communities we serve. 

Lindsay Huff, HRBP Manager at Nutrabolt, said it’s an enriching experience to give back to the very communities that support our business. 

“There’s been many families in the past who have mentioned that they were worried they wouldn’t be able to provide gifts for their kids. It’s so hard to think that kids have to go through that,” Lindsay said. “So, it’s super special to be able to give them a good Christmas.” 

Nutrabolt is excited to have year-round partnerships with both The GiveJoy Foundation and BADU, and we look forward to making a positive impact on the youth in our communities through 2024 and beyond.

At Nutrabolt, ‘for all’ is one of six core values that drive our team culture. 

We believe in the power of inclusivity and creating spaces where individuals from all backgrounds and identities can reach their full potential.  

That’s why we’re excited to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month — a time to recognize the rich cultural contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans to our society. It also provides our teammates a great opportunity to reflect on the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. 

To further our celebration, we’d like to spotlight two wonderful teammates — Jaime and Michelle! 

Jaime works on our growth-minded Logistics team, and Michelle is a part of our highly-innovative Product Development team. Jaime was born and raised in Reynosa, a city in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas. He came to the U.S. at 17 years old after a 19-year immigration process. 

In Jaime’s words, this year’s observance theme, ‘Latinos: Driving Prosperity, Power, and Progress in America,’ means “hard work, supporting each other, and making this nation great by uniting and pushing forward together.” 

Michelle was born in Texas, but both of her parents immigrated to the U.S. from Northern Mexico. As fate would have it, they met in Austin in the ‘90s.  

“My dad immigrated to the U.S. from Monclova, Coahuila when he was 17, and my mom immigrated from Xicoténcatl, Tamaulipas when she was only 12.” Michelle said. “To me, this year’s Hispanic Heritage Month theme acknowledges the direct impact Hispanic people have made on our community and the nation, and I think this is something to be very proud of.” 

Like many families across the globe, both Jaime and Michelle’s families have special traditions they celebrate – rooted in their Hispanic heritage. 

“We always get together on Sundays, and do ‘carne asada,’ and we have three-day weddings,” Jaime said. “We mostly have live music for celebrations and wear cowboy boots and hats most days!” 

Michelle shared the importance of celebrating ‘Día de Muertos,’ (Day of the Dead) in Hispanic culture. 

“A tradition coming up that is considered very special in our culture is ‘Day of the Dead.’ This is when families celebrate and create offerings to honor family members who have passed,” she said. 

Here at Nutrabolt, our people are intentional about diverse representation in our teams and marketing. We believe that putting our values into motion doesn’t just make us a better team, it also makes Nutrabolt a better company. 

“I can be myself here,” Michelle said. “I love that teammates at all levels respect where I come from and what I represent!” 

Michelle also noted that people should understand those from Hispanic and Latino communities can be diverse in their appearance, style, and personalities. 

“I wish everyone I met knew how diverse the Hispanic community can be,” she said. “I think a lot of people have a specific idea in mind when they picture Hispanic people, but the reality is, we come in so many different colors and sizes.” 

Jaime wants people to know that Hispanic and Latino people love helping people, and value the importance of spoken word and hard work. 

“We Mexicans love to help people,” he said. “We love to have a great time with anyone; we are people who weigh our word, and most importantly – hard work is what makes us strong!” 

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with our teammates is an important reminder that creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to thrive only leads to a brighter, more inclusive future for all. 

“The Latino community in this company and this country makes all of us strong. Let’s celebrate our roots by helping our community and lift each other up,” Jaime said.
